Release - 22nd September 2003 Wolverhampton Archives Open Day Wolverhampton City Archives is holding an Open Day this coming Saturday, September 27th. The Snow Hill premises will be open from 10.00am to 3.00pm to give Wulfrunians the chance to see where the City's history is kept, with tours around the strongrooms, a document conservation workshop plus displays of archive materials, photographs and archive film on show. As well as being part of national Archives Awareness Month the Open Day will be a celebration of 25 years of Wolverhampton's Archive Service, during which time many hundreds of thousands of documents, maps, photographs, books and films, dating from the 15th century onwards have been added to the collection. Cabinet Member for Leisure and Communities, Councillor Peter O'Neill, said : "We have a wonderful archive service which is celebrating 25 years of looking after the history of our City. "This Open Day will be the chance for citizens to get a glimpse of where their history is stored and how it is looked after", he added. |
