Joe T Perks, 1941 - 1942 Perks was a steelworker and a protégé of Benjamin Bilboe, who represented Labour for Bilston Urban District Council. In May 1937 Perks stood for election himself, representing New Town Ward, but was defeated by GH Plant. He was elected mayor in 1941 and became an alderman in 1944. In the same year he was president of the Bilston British Legion whilst his vice-president, Councillor Arthur Darbey, was the current mayor. Alderman:
