William
Henry Sandland, 1956 - 1957
A toolmaker
by trade, William Henry Sandland was elected to Bilston Borough
Council in May 1950. He lived at 3 Tryon Place, Bilston, and represented
Bradley Ward. His mayoral year was from 1956 to 1957. On 24th November
1956, on behalf of the borough, he received a memorial to John Wilkinson,
the founder of the Black Country's first blast furnace at Bradley
in 1767. The memorial was erected in Great Bridge Playing Fields
and unveiled by Amos Hunt of the Bilston Historical Society.
