James Victor
Lavender, 1953 - 1954
Lavender first
stood for election in November 1947, representing the Labour Party
in the New Town Ward. Due to domestic difficulties weeks before
the nomination he requeated that his agent JL Smallshire should
run for another year. Smallshire refused and Lavender lost the election,
winning only 900 votes. Lavender was eventually elected to Bilston
Council in May 1949, representing the Ettingshall Ward. Four years
later he became mayor. Lavender's occupation was as a builder's
surveyor. He lived in Stowheath, Wolverhampton.
