George
Bates, 1941 - 1942
Little is known
of George Bates. One of the official duties he performed during
his year as mayor was to decorate ten local police constables for
their service to the police force. Towards the end of his term of
office he receiving the Archduke Robert of Austria, who gave a speech
to Wolverhampton Rotary Club in October 1942.
