Albert
Edward Wood, 1927 - 1929
Wood served as mayor for two years from 1927. In his
second year Wood had the honour of welcoming the Queen of Spain
to Wolverhampton. During her visit, the Spanish monarch attended
a service at Wolverhampton War Memorial with Wood and the other
town leaders. Towards the end of his term in office Wood was referred
to by his predecessor, Councillor Alan Davies, as a man who was
'broad in outlook and tolerant in treatment'.
