William
Warner, 1851 - 1852
Warner was born in Wolverhampton and attended the Grammar School,
where he was appointed trustee in 1835. He was actively involved
with the school for much of his life and supported the building
of a new local school by pledging £100. He also contributed
to other public charities. During his term of office as mayor he
addressed the visiting Royal Family. He became Treasurer of Blue
Coat School and a magistrate of the Commission of the Peace of the
Borough. He was also Director of Wolverhampton & Staffordshire
Banking Company, a position previously held by his father. After
a long illness he died in 1873, aged seventy-three.
