Joseph
Green Wright, 1885 - 1886
Joseph Green Wright was born into an old established manufacturing
family connected with the iron trade. He was an engineer and became
Chairman of the Waterworks Committee two years after he entered
the Council in 1878, succeeding Sir Henry Fowler. He directed the
modernising programme at the Cosford Plants. His term of office
as mayor commenced in 1885. He was elected Alderman and Magistrate
of the Borough in 1886.
