Sir
John Morris, 1866 - 1867
Morris's father was a member of the Board of Commissions, Wolverhampton's
governing body prior to its incorporation. Morris became a leading
manufacturer in the town and worked actively in the public sector.
He lived at 'Elmdale' in Tettenhall. He was knighted by Queen Victoria
on November 30th 1866 when she visited the town for the unveiling
of the Prince Albert Memorial Statue in Queen Square. In the same
year he was elected mayor. Morris died on the 27th February 1889.
