John Ford, 1864- 1865

John Ford was born in Wolverhampton and educated at the Free Grammar School. He continued his education under the guidance of Isaac Fellows at the Commercial Academy, an institution for potential tradesmen, and began an apprenticeship with the hardware merchants Joseph Tarrant & Sons. He continued to work for them when he was elected mayor in 1864, and eventually became joint owner of the company with his brother Joseph.
