John Hawksford,
1863- 1864
Hawksford arrived in Wolverhampton at the age of thirteen. He obtained
a position as a clerk at the office of a Mr Price. He was promoted
when he commenced employment with Mr Chrees. During this time he
managed the estates of the Duke of Cleveland. After the death of
Mr Chrees he entered into partnership as a solicitor with M Manby.
He was elected mayor in 1863. He died at his Graisley home when
he was eighty-one.
