Location of
records

Rate books and
valuation lists are typically found amongst local authority and
parish records. Wolverhampton Archives and Local Studies has two
main collections of rate books:
Civil parish
rate books Wolverhampton (town centre area only) 1777-1829
Local authority
rate books for the present Wolverhampton Borough 1872-1980
Note
that this collection of records is not complete with several gaps.
It includes records for Bilston, Tettenhall, and Wednesfield
which became part of the borough in 1966.
Some rate books
for Wolverhampton, particularly parish rate books, may also be held
by Staffordshire
Record Office.
