Armed Forces

Many
people have ancestors who served in the armed forces, whether as
a regular, volunteer or conscript. The numbers involved during the
two World Wars means that few families were left untouched by war.
It
is helpful if you know in which of the forces your ancestor served
and an idea of the date and regiment. It may be possible to find
out service details, medal entitlement and, from war diaries or
published books, learn something of the events in which your ancestor
may have participated.
