Wolverhampton and the Great War The Home Front Rationing Food shortages led to the rationing of items such as margarine, sugar and uncooked meat. The log book for Ss Mary & John RC School records that in January 1918 the school had to close as teachers were required at the Town Hall to work on ration cards
